PURPOSE
Our conference has many talented sailors; only a few go to nationals and even less earn All American status. Therefore, we shall recognize our talented sailors by having an All PCCSC Team.
ELIGIBILITY
Any sailor that is a member of any PCCSC team and has competed during the current school year shall be eligible.
CATEGORIES
There are three categories, All PCCSC Coed Team, All PCCSC Women's Team, and All PCCSC Crews. Each category shall have six members. An additional category of PCCSC Sportsmanship Award shall have one member. Winners of the award shall receive certificates and have their names published on our website. A plaque is in the works that will be permanently displayed in the PCCSC Hall of Fame.
VOTING
Each PCCSC team that attended North/South in the fall and both the North and South Designates in the Spring shall get one vote (Hawaii will automatically be included in the voting). Voting shall be completed within five days of the Coed PCC's (ie. Friday May 4th). Votes may be e-mailed to the chairman within the required time frame.
SCORING
For the first three categories, each team shall produce a list of 10 sailors for each category and rank the list from 1 to 10 with number 1 being the best sailor in each category. The conference awards chairman shall then add the votes from each school with the first place vote worth 10 points, second place 9 points, etc. The top 6, point earners in each category shall receive the award. For the PCCSC Sportsmanship Award, each team shall produce a ranked list of three Sailors. Similar to the first three categories, the conference award chairman shall add the votes with the first place vote worth three points, second place 2 points, etc. With the top point earner receiving the award. To provide assistance for award nominations on the national level, the conference award chairman shall provide the PCCSC All American Committee a detailed report on voting.
GUIDANCE ON VOTING
The coach and/ or team captain and/ or the top sailor (all work together) shall do the voting for the team. For the All PCCSC Coed Team, voting shall be based primarily on results from regattas within the conference. Extra weight should be given for results at Single-handed PCC's , North/South, and Coed PCC's.
For the All PCCSC Women's Team, voting shall be based primarily on results from regattas within the conference. Extra weight should be given for results at Women's Fall Championships, Women's Singlehanded PCC's and Women's PCC's.
For the All PCCSC Crews, some weight shall be given to regatta results, especially good regatta results with multiple skippers; however, voter(s) may allow more for reputation in this category. This includes factors like team leadership, PCCSC leadership, college sailing dedication, interest and support of growth in (college) sailing, etc.
For the PCCSC Sportsmanship Award, the award shall be given to the sailor that best exemplifies the Corinthian ideals of sailing. This includes factors like team leadership, PCCSC leadership, college sailing dedication, interest and support of growth in (college) sailing, etc.
