Larson, du Plessis, Shakespeare, Perez Rovira, and Christopher Earn SAISA Sailors of the Week Honors (Week 6)

CHESTNUT HILL, MA., (October 16-17, 2021) – From the start of the very first race at the Savin Hill Invite regatta hosted by Boston College, NC State University junior skipper Adam Larson, and sophomore crew Isa du Plessis took their position at the front of the fleet and didn't let go all day. Choppy, breezy conditions on Dorchester Bay and sailing with little or no break were no deterrent to the Wolfpack on the blustery New England Saturday. With three bullets and no score worse than 8th in the seventeen boat fleet, Larson and du Plessis secured the A-Division win and overall low score for the regatta. With their teammates' tie for 1st in B-Division, the Wolfpack pair helped their team win the overall Savin Hill Invite regatta and earned SAISA Coed Sailors of the Week honors for Week 6.

Across town at the Atlantic Coast Tournament at MIT racing on the Charles River lived up to its reputation as being wicked shifty with insane puffs, but University of South Florida sophomore skipper Emma Shakesperare, senior crew Carolina Perez Rovira, and sophomore crew Brilan Christopher were unfazed. Their ability to manage the race when they started well and to move forward through the fleet after a bad start was key to their success. With teams frequently being auto-tacked or capsizing in helicopter gusts, the Bulls shifted gears and maintained their speed to best the fleet. The USF women took the lead in A-Division in the third race of the day and defended for the division win helping the Bulls to an overall 2nd in the ACT regatta. With an outstanding performance including 4 bullets and no score worse than a 9, Shakespeare, Rovira, and Christopher earn SAISA Women's Sailors of the Week Honors for week 6. Congratulations to all of the SAISA SOTW winners.
