NEISA Sailors of the Week, Weekend 4, Fall 2019


*** Fox and Nelson are the NEISA Co-ed Sailors of the Week***

New London, CT – 9/28-9/29/19 – Mack Fox ’20 and Brian Nelson ’21 of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy are the NEISA Coed Sailors of the Week after winning A-division at their home event, the Danmark Trophy.  The duo propelled the Bears to a 6thplace finish overall, in an incredibly tight and competitive field and in some very tricky wind and current conditions.  Harvard University claimed overall victory in the 20-team event, followed by St. Mary’s College and Yale University.

 

***Kaneti and Jakobson are the NEISA Women Sailors of the Week***

New London, CT – 9/28-9/29/19 – Emma Kaneti ’22 and Emma Jakobson ’21 of Harvard University are the NEISA Women’s Sailors of the Week after winning A-division at the Women’s Showcase Regatta hosted by Connecticut College this weekend. The pair from Harvard earned first place in a very competitive A-division fleet with consistent scores across a wide range of conditions.  The duo’s performance helped lead their team to a second place finish overall.  Yale University captured first place overall and Dartmouth College claimed third place overall.

 

Around the District

Brown hosted the Women’s Showcase B in beautiful, summer-like conditions and NEISA had a clean sweep of the top three positions.  The home squad Brown Bears won the event convincingly, ahead of the MIT Engineers and the Tufts Jumbos.

NEISA had a strong showing at the Moody Trophy, hosted by URI.  Brown, Yale, Boston College and Coast Guard rounded out the top five positions with Stanford taking the overall trophy.Yale bested URI at the Sister Esther Open, hosted by Salve Regina in spectacular conditions. Northeastern bested a pair of Tufts teams to take victory at the Chris Loder Trophy regatta, hosted by UNH. Yale claimed victory at the Tufts September Invite over home squad Tufts in the 22-boat combined division event.
