NEISA Sailors of the Week, Weekend 8, Fall 2024


Providence, RI – 10/27/24 – The Harvard Crimson B division sailors Zoey Ziskind ‘27, Peyton Hadfield ‘27, Kate Danielson ‘28, and Christina Chen ‘27 are the NEISA Women’s Sailors of the Week. They won their division at the NEISA Women’s Fall Championship for the Urn Trophy with all single digit finishes and one 10th place. Their win in B division, and specifically their 1st place in the last race of the regatta, secured the overall win for Harvard in a competitive weekend with exhausting wind conditions. The conditions on Saturday stayed in 12-18knts with gusts over 20knts. Sunday included shifty and lighter wind from the North and West, and they excelled throughout. Coupled with a 2nd place finish in A division, the Harvard team won the event with a 16-point lead over 2nd place home team, Brown University Bears.

New Haven, CT – 10/27/24 - The Roger Williams Hawks, Carlos de Castro ‘26, Carly Kiss ‘25, and Jed Lory ‘27 are the NEISA Open Sailors of the Week for their dominant performance at the NEISA Open Championship for the Schell Trophy. In the 13-race regatta, they earned 34 points, with a more than 2x point gap on the 2nd place A division, Harvard Crimson. Their low point A division, coupled with Roger Williams’ win in B division, accounted for a 43 point overall spread over the Harvard Crimson. 

 

Around NEISA

Tufts University hosted the Nickerson Trophy, a famous battleground for First Year (class of 2028) sailors. The interconference event hosted 18 schools from NEISA, SAISA, and MCSA. The top 8 finishes were NEISA teams, including top 3 from Brown University (1st), University of Rhode Island (2nd), and U.S. Coast Guard Academy (3rd).

Bentley hosted the NEISA Fall Tournament, with Salve Regina University finishing 1st overall. The 12 teams competing at the NEISA Fall Tournament marked the most participation to date at this event.

Boston University hosted the Terrier Invite with top 3 placements: Boston University (1st), Brown University (2nd), and MIT (3rd).
